Overview

CelloDex ("the App") is developed by Melody Foundation (https://melodyfoundation.com/). This Privacy Policy explains what information the App handles, where it goes, and how long it is kept.

No Account Required

CelloDex does not require an account. The App opens directly and is used as a guest.

• We do not ask you to sign in
• We do not collect your name, email address, or profile picture
• We do not create a user profile for you

Information We Handle

Camera & Photo Library

The App accesses your camera or photo library only when you choose to scan sheet music. The image you select is used for that one conversion and nothing else.

Sheet Music Images

When you scan sheet music, the image is sent over an encrypted connection (HTTPS) to a conversion server operated by Melody Foundation. That server performs the recognition and returns music notation to the App.

Depending on the recognition engine you select in the App, the server either:

• processes the image with KHEngine, our own optical music recognition service, or
• forwards it to the OpenAI API for recognition.

The image is held in memory only for the duration of the request. It is not written to disk and is not retained after the response is returned. The resulting music notation is returned to your device and is not stored on our servers.

Server Logs

Like any web server, our conversion server records basic technical information about each request:

• IP address
• Date and time of the request
• Requested path and response status

These logs exist to keep the service running and to prevent abuse (rate limiting). They do not contain your sheet music images or the recognized notation. Logs rotate automatically and older entries are discarded.

Information We Do NOT Collect

• We do not collect your location data
• We do not collect your contacts or messages
• We do not collect usage analytics or behavioural tracking data
• We do not use advertising identifiers
• We do not sell or share any personal data with third parties for marketing
• We do not store your sheet music images after processing

Third-Party Services

The App itself contacts only Melody Foundation's conversion server. From that server, sheet music images may be forwarded to:

• OpenAI API — sheet music recognition. Images sent to OpenAI are subject to the OpenAI Privacy Policy.

No other third-party service receives your data.

Note: the App bundles Google Firebase libraries for a sign-in feature that is currently disabled. Firebase is not initialized and no data is sent to it. If sign-in is enabled in a future release, this Policy will be updated before that release ships.

Data Security

All communication between the App and our server uses HTTPS with a publicly trusted certificate. API credentials for recognition services are held only on the server and are not present in the App.

Children's Privacy

The App does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Because the App requires no account and collects no personal identifiers, it does not build profiles of any user, including children. If you believe we have collected such information, please contact us immediately.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on our website, and the "Last updated" date above will be revised.
